About Train-4-Jobs
Who are we? This campaign and website was created by the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College. Why? Because the business community and even the Governor have recognized that workforce is Weber County’s biggest competitive advantage.
Consider this:
- The #1 reason companies relocate to Weber County is that we have workers with excellent skills, an ability to grow, and a strong work ethic.
- Over 90 percent of the jobs that pay enough to support a family require some education beyond high school.
- There are good jobs for workers with the right skills, even during a recession. Two areas to consider are healthcare and manufacturing. Did you know that in the coming years, healthcare will become the #1 industry in our community? Manufacturing — already a strong party of our economy — pays an average of $1000 more per month than jobs in other industries. Yet, shortages of skilled workers exist in both of these sectors.
There are far too many people who do not get the necessary training to tap into these great jobs. Local companies can’t grow if they aren’t supplied with trained employees and may be forced to leave for other regions or out of the country.
This is why our website directs citizens to careers in high-demand, high-paying fields and the training resources to qualify.
